Our story begins with women.
THE WELL is a women-founded and women-led publishing company designed to challenge the outdated models of traditional publishing. At our core, we believe the future of publishing is rooted in strategy, sustainability, and radical author support—especially for women whose stories, voices, and visions have too often been undervalued or mishandled.
Our model is intentional and disruptive. Instead of rushing to print, THE WELL launches each title through strategic digital and audio-first rollouts. This approach allows our projects to reach key performance thresholds before a single paperback or hardcover is printed—ensuring authors recoup their advances and the company recoups its initial investment. Only then do we greenlight print runs, reinforcing financial responsibility without sacrificing artistic integrity.
We don’t wait until the book is done to begin marketing. Every author receives at least one full year of dedicated marketing and social media support, helping them build and nurture an audience ready to receive their work. And unlike legacy publishers who rely on outdated payment models, THE WELL pays its authors through a structured drip system. This method not only stabilizes income for writers but also helps them build credibility within banking systems—creating a financial footprint that supports access to loans, mortgages, and other essential resources.
Beyond the books, THE WELL is a sanctuary for the people behind them. We invest in the mental, emotional, financial, and physical well-being of our authors and employees by partnering with national service providers to offer discounted wellness support across categories. Because care is not a bonus here—it’s a baseline.
Most importantly, we exist to serve women. We publish them. We pay them. We protect their peace. And we empower their pens to shape a new publishing legacy—one built with them in mind.
